Nexus Trading Company
History
Nexus Trading Co was set up
in 1994 (initially set up in 1992 as Magma Conf SRL) and it’s main activity
was selling new and second hand sewing machines, accessories, printing paper
and consulting services to the Italian companies doing business with the
Romanian factories.
At that moment, Italian producers in the textile industry have seriously
started to consider re-locating their production facilities to Eastern
Europe. They were looking to find and appoint local business partners
responsible with production process, price policy, quality and delivery
terms control
Nexus have successfully managed to become representative office for several
Italian brands that were producing their garments in the Romanian factories.
Back in 1995, Nexus was producing more than 2 million items in 11 factories
in Romania, covering a wide range of garments (from swimming wear to ski
wear).
Nexus understood the need of the Romanian factories to quickly purchase top
quality sewing machines, needles and accessories, in order to maintain the
level of production and to meet their contracts.
Nexus was also the first Romanian company involved in trading sewing
machinery and accessories for the textile industry (except for the official
representative offices of the producers).
Therefore, Nexus has developed its own distribution network of sewing
machinery, spare parts and accessories for the textile industry.
In 1996, Nexus contacted the needle producer Schmetz and invited its MD, Mr.
Lehnen, to visit Romania and to analyse the opportunity of working with
Nexus in order to have the most famous needles in the world traded locally.
At that time, the Romanian textile industry demand was for about 100,000
Schmetz needles /year and Mr. Lehnen expressed his intention to give Nexus
the exclusivity rights for distributing and selling the Schmetz needles in
Romania. Thus, Nexus developed its distribution network year after year,
reaching, after 9 years, an yearly sales volume of 7 million Schmetz needles
in Romania.
Two years ago, Nexus realized that the biggest problem the Romanian
factories were facing with was the long delivery terms for the spare parts
and in some cases, their poor quality. Consequently, they approached the
same strategy and not only had they managed to diversify the range of
products but also to have the products in stock thus reducing the delivery
time. |
